1. Who we are
LinLou ("LinLou", "we", "us") is a community app for parents of children from pregnancy through age 5. We help parents connect with other nearby parents, share stage-by-stage guidance, and discover kid-friendly places.
2. Information we collect
- Account info: name, email, and (optionally) a profile photo and short bio.
- Family details you choose to share: your child's age range or stage (e.g. "pregnancy", "0–6 months"). We never ask for your child's full name, birthday, or photos.
- Location: your city or an approximate area, used only to surface nearby parents and kid-friendly places. We never share your exact address with other users.
- Community activity: posts, comments, messages, and friend connections you create inside LinLou.
- Device & usage info: basic technical data (browser, device type, crash logs) to keep the app reliable.
3. What we do not collect
LinLou does not process payments, store payment cards, or run financial transactions inside the app. We do not sell your data, and we do not run third-party advertising networks against your profile or messages.
4. How we use your information
- Operate core features: profiles, friending, direct messages, forums, and the map.
- Suggest nearby parents and relevant venues based on your area and your child's stage.
- Keep the community safe (spam, abuse, and safety review).
- Send essential service emails (account, security, friend requests). We will only send marketing emails if you opt in.
5. Sharing
What other parents see is limited to your display name, profile photo, bio, general area (e.g. city), and your child's stage. Your email, exact location, and private messages are never shown publicly.
We share data with vetted service providers (hosting, authentication, analytics) only as needed to run the app, under confidentiality agreements.
6. Children
LinLou is for parents and caregivers — not for children. Accounts are restricted to users 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Please do not post identifying photos or full names of children on public areas of the app.
7. Your choices
- Edit or remove information on your profile at any time.
- Delete your account from Settings — your profile, posts, and messages will be removed or anonymized.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and row-level access controls. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong password and let us know if you suspect unauthorized access.
9. Changes
We will update this policy as LinLou evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
